About the play Jsma Odan

The story of is a household folklore in Gujarat. Jasma, an apsara cursed by a rishi is born on earth and is married to a man belonging to the Odan community. But their peace is shattered when Siddhraj Jaisimha, the mighty king of Gujarat, hears about Jasma's beauty. What follows is a story of Jasma’s love for her husband, against the lust of the evil king. The two Sutradhars Rangala and Nayaka take us through the journey of Jasma’s life giving us a glimpse of the colourful lifestyle in Rural India. The play is presented in , a several hundred-year-old folk theatre style.
