The Basic Acting class demonstrations were presented by the students of the 11th Batch of the National School of Drama (NSD), Bengaluru Centre, on 30th August 2026, at the NSD Bengaluru premises, under the guidance of Smt. Veena Sharma Bhusnoormath, Centre Director, NSD Bengaluru Centre.
The sessions were designed to introduce newly admitted students to the fundamental principles of acting while fostering interpersonal communication, mutual understanding, confidence, trust and team bonding. The activities aimed to create a welcoming and collaborative learning environment, enabling students to overcome initial inhibitions, develop meaningful connections and establish a strong foundation for their theatrical training.
As part of the practical exercises, students participated in a retro-themed couple performance activity set to classic Kannada film songs. The exercise encouraged spontaneity, creative expression, improvisation, coordination and emotional engagement, allowing students to explore character interaction, expressive movement and performance dynamics in an enjoyable and interactive setting.
The demonstrations provided an opportunity for students to develop self-confidence, stage presence, interpersonal awareness and collaborative performance skills. By combining creative exploration with group interaction, the sessions strengthened camaraderie, encouraged individual expression and established a supportive foundation for their continued artistic development and professional theatre training.
