The Kolata demonstrations were presented by the students of the 11th Batch of the National School of Drama (NSD), Bengaluru Centre, on 30th August 2026, at the NSD Bengaluru premises, under the guidance of Smt. Girija Siddhi.

The demonstrations offered students valuable hands-on experience in Kolata, a traditional folk art form, fostering a deeper appreciation of its cultural significance, rhythmic patterns, coordinated movements and expressive techniques.

The sessions enhanced students’ understanding of the relationship between traditional folk practices and contemporary theatre, while encouraging them to explore the creative integration of indigenous performing arts into theatrical expression. The demonstrations also contributed to the development of rhythm, coordination, ensemble performance skills and cultural awareness, enriching the students’ overall theatrical learning experience.
